Piloting Phase - Rules for Novuss

Piloting Phase - Rules for Novuss

We are launching a new version of the Novuss rules, beginning with a piloting phase (test phase), which was agreed upon during the FINSO meeting on March 2, 2025. This phase marks an important step in refining the official regulations of Novuss to ensure fair and standardized gameplay worldwide. The rules are based on the regulations approved by the Latvian Novuss Association on March 9, 2024.

Testing Phase Implementation

The testing phase for the revised Novuss rules will begin with the upcoming tournament in Poland. This event will serve as a practical evaluation of the new regulations before they are officially adopted.

Handling Conflict Situations

In case of uncertainties or disputes during the competition, the organization committee will receive decision-making support from the following individuals:

  • Mr. Kaspars Paegle
  • Mr. Guido Trees
  • Mr. Juris Kiriks

Feedback and Final Approval

Throughout the testing phase, feedback will be collected from players, referees, and organizers after each tournament. This input will be carefully analyzed to refine the rules further.

The testing phase will conclude once the FINSO Congress has reviewed and approved the final version of the rules. From that point forward, only the officially approved rules will be valid for all Novuss competitions.

The final approval of the official Novuss rules can only be granted by the FINSO Congress. Therefore, it has been proposed to include this matter in the agenda of an extraordinary Congress.

Language and Translation Updates

The Russian language has been used as the basis for the piloting version of the rules because it is the common language for communication among our most experienced players and referees. This allows for the most precise and accurate rule formulation during the testing phase.

However, we are committed to ensuring that all players have access to the rules in their preferred language. The translations into English and German are currently in progress, and we are doing our best to complete them as soon as possible. Once finalized, the translated versions will be made available for international players and organizers.

Stay updated for further announcements regarding the rule adjustments, translations, and the official approval process.
